DFS Wins AWWA 2012 Green Ribbon Award

Data Flow Systems, Inc. (DFS) is one of only 30 organizations to win the American Water Works Association's 2012 Green Ribbon Award. To receive this award, organizations had to achieve an ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification, or demonstrate their "greenness" through a combination of environmental programs, policies, and initiatives.

DFS was selected for the award based on its "Symphony" software. Symphony utilizes SCADA to coordinate the system-wide operation of sewer lift stations for the purpose of reducing force main pressures and equalizing flow into a wastewater treatment plant. The result is a significant reduction in energy costs and a solution to daily peak-flow problems. By using this software, DFS customers have been able to reduce pump station run times by 30% to 45% and pump maintenance by more then 50%.

Symphony has also been used in DFS' corporate offices and manufacturing facilities to coordinate the operation of the various air conditioning systems. The result has been an approximately 40% reduction in air conditioning electrical cost.

Winners were selected by AWWA's Manufacturers/Associates Council and will be designated with a green ribbon on their exhibit booth during AWWA's Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE12) being held June 10-14 at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.
